Realme are set to introduce a new phone next week, starting a new series of phones with the V-series.
The new Realme V5 has popped up on TENAA as well as Realme confirming its existing through various promo posts.
With the official promo posts, we already know the design of the phone and some key specifications. The display has a single punch-hole to the right, moving away from the pill shape they have used a lot recently. It will feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, therefore, confirming the display will be IPS and also likely sitting somewhere in the mid-range of their line-up.
On the rear of the phone is a quad-camera arrangement, similar to most of their recent phones.
A similar-looking phone showed up on the Chinese TENNA website indicating many of the specs. Two versions were listed, both identical but one being 4G and the other 5G.
The phone has a 6.5” 1080p+ display and runs Android 10. The single selfie camera will be 16MP.
The main camera has a 48MP sensor, which is joined by an 8MP cam and 2MP modules. This will almost certainly consist of an ultrawide sensor then macro and depth.
The TENNA listing doesn’t confirm the chipset being used, but it indicates an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.0 GHz. It is a 5G chip.
RAM comes in two capacities, 6 GB and 8 GB, while storage is a choice between 128 GB and 256 GB. There will also be a microSD slot.
The battery has 4,900 mAh capacity but no word on the charge speed.
Based on the above specification this is being positioned as a mid-range affordable 5G handset, it is unlikely this will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G because that doesn’t have any cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. So it will almost certainly be one of the MediaTek chipsets.
With the recent announcement of the MediaTek Dimensity 720 and Realme being a regular customer I would say this is extremely likely to be the first phone to feature the chipset.
The phone is being launched in China first, there is no word on an international release, but Realme has been launching most of there phones internationally recently, and I think this would make a sensible choice for a global launch.
