Nvidia always appear to have at least one rumour floating around and the latest one is the new non ray-tracing card that could be launched.
The GTX 2060 was released recently and has seen overwhelmingly positive reviews with it having the best price to performance of all the RTX cards comfortably outperforming the GTX 1070ti and offering near GTX 1080 performance in some cases. The problem is that the cheapest card available is £329.99 meaning that the £200-300 price point is lacking for the latest generation of cards.
The GTX 1660 Ti could be the answer for this, though rumours are uncertain about its name, it could be the GTX 1160.
As the name suggests this card will remove the ray tracing features of RTX series allowing them to achieve a lower price point.
However it isn’t the RTX 2060 minus ray tracing, the new card will have fewer CUDA cores too at 1536 compared to 1920 of the RTX 2060 avoiding them cannibalising sales of the new 2060.
The card will also have 6GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus, which is the same as the RTX 2060. The overall specs mean it should perform around the same at the current GTX 1070
There is no idea about the release date, but it will likely coincide with the dwindling GTX 1060 stock and therefore should be relatively soon.
