I have reviewed quite a few portable monitors in the past few years and have always found them a useful peripheral to have.
Working in IT support, I use one as an auxiliary monitor that I use solely for the 3CX softphone, so I don’t lose the window in my mess of Chrome tabs. And I have one for call-outs, allowing me to use it for things like NVRs or whenever a client is using an old monitor without HDMI.
At home, I use them in my home lab if I need a display for one of my mini-PCs.
Then, I also use them when travelling, allowing me to set up a dual monitor system for increased productivity.
I have previously reviewed the unique Mobile Pixels Duex Max Portable Monitor and Mobile Pixels Trio, which uses magnets to attach the monitor to your laptop, which I found convenient for travelling, but it is a bit of a cumbersome setup.
The Aura Triple Aero 15.6 Pro Max takes a different approach to multi-monitor portable monitor setups. Rather than attaching the monitors to the laptop, they have their own integrated stand that lifts the monitors above the laptop’s display.
While this solution may not be suitable for when I go abroad for work, it is a great solution for anyone who works from home who doesn’t have a dedicated space for fixed monitors. In this scenario, I find the Aura Triple Aero far superior to the Mobile Pixels solution or separate monitors.
Transparency
Before examining the product itself, it’s worth addressing some concerns that have surfaced regarding Aura Displays. During research, several Reddit posts have suggested potential connections between Aura Displays and companies like The Portable Monitor (formerly Portable) and Slidenjoy. These companies faced significant criticism when customers reported non-delivery of products, ultimately leading to business closures.
However, after thorough investigation, no concrete evidence links Aura Displays to these problematic companies beyond offering similar products. The portable monitor market includes several legitimate manufacturers like Mobile Pixels and Lepow, who also produce multi-screen solutions without facing similar accusations. The Portable Monitor company doesn’t even manufacture products comparable to the Triple Aero.
Until definitive evidence emerges suggesting otherwise, this review assumes Aura Displays operates legitimately. Nevertheless, when purchasing expensive technology from lesser-known brands, using a credit card provides additional protection through chargeback rights should issues arise.

Unboxing / Design

The Triple Aero arrives in substantial packaging that immediately communicates the product’s premium positioning. The unboxing experience feels considered, with each component securely protected and clearly organised. The included accessories comprise the 65W USB-C charger, necessary cables, and installation materials.
The monitor’s physical design impresses with its full aluminium construction. The Spatial Grey finish provides a professional appearance that complements modern laptops and workspaces. Build quality feels solid throughout, with no flex or creaking when handling the unit. The matte finish on the displays effectively reduces reflections, though it does impact colour vibrancy slightly compared to glossy alternatives.

At 3.2kg, the Triple Aero is substantial but manageable. The weight distribution feels balanced, preventing the unit from feeling unwieldy during setup or transport. The integrated kickstand mechanism operates smoothly, though it requires both hands to adjust properly.
Assembly / Set Up / Connectivity

Setting up the Triple Aero proves straightforward, though it requires more steps than single-screen portable monitors. The process begins with unfolding the integrated stand and positioning the unit at the desired height and angle. The stand mechanism feels robust and maintains position well once adjusted.
Initial Setup Process:
- Unfold the integrated kickstand
- Position the monitor array above your laptop screen
- Connect power via the included USB-C charger
- Connect display cables (USB-C or Mini HDMI)
- Configure display settings through your operating system

Connectivity options provide flexibility for different devices and use cases. The dual USB-C ports support both power delivery and display signals, simplifying cable management for compatible laptops. The three Mini HDMI inputs accommodate older devices or situations requiring multiple input sources simultaneously.
Cable management could be improved. With multiple displays requiring individual connections, the workspace can become cluttered quickly. The included cables are adequate but not exceptional, and their length may prove limiting in some setups.

The setup process typically takes 3-5 minutes once you are familiar with the procedure. Packing away is similarly quick, making it practical for users who need to set up and break down regularly.
Performance

The Triple Aero’s performance centres on its ability to provide substantial screen real estate rather than exceptional display quality. Each 15.6-inch panel delivers competent Full HD imagery suitable for productivity tasks, though the 60Hz refresh rate and standard colour gamut limit its appeal for gaming or creative work.
Display Quality: The IPS panels provide consistent colour reproduction across all three screens, avoiding the colour matching issues that can plague multi-monitor setups using different manufacturers. Brightness uniformity is good, though some minor variations exist between panels when displaying solid colours. The 350 nits maximum brightness proves adequate for most indoor environments but may struggle in brightly lit spaces.
Colour accuracy is reasonable for business applications, with the 100% sRGB coverage handling standard web content and office documents well. However, professionals requiring precise colour work will find the displays limiting compared to dedicated colour-accurate monitors.
Text Clarity: The matte finish reduces reflections effectively but introduces a slight texture that can impact text sharpness at close viewing distances. This trade-off is generally worthwhile for reducing eye strain during extended use, though users accustomed to high-DPI displays may notice the difference.
Viewing Angles: The 178-degree viewing angles work well in practice, allowing comfortable viewing even when the monitors are positioned at various angles. This flexibility proves valuable when adjusting the setup for different tasks or sharing screen content with colleagues.
Audio Performance: The integrated 2W speakers provide basic audio output suitable for video calls and system notifications. Sound quality is adequate but unremarkable, with limited bass response and modest volume levels. Most users will prefer headphones or external speakers for media consumption.
Connectivity Stability: Display connections remain stable during testing, with no dropouts or signal issues encountered. The USB-C connections handle both power and display signals reliably, though using all three displays simultaneously can stress some laptop USB-C implementations.
Price and Alternative Options
The Aura Triple Aero 15.6 Pro Max has an RRP of £520, and at the time of writing (4th of July / Independence Day), it was available with 14% off at £446.
Aura also has the Triple Boost 14” Pro, which is three 14” monitors that attach to your laptop. This is priced at £483 / £357.
Then the new Triple Go (Gen 2), which has options for 14” or 16”, is priced at £520 RRP for both but discounted to £409 / £431 respectively.
Lepow TriCreate is the closest competitor I could find, which is priced at $699 RRP and discounted to $569, which works out at around £420.
Mobile Pixels has the Trio/ Trio Max. The trio has dual 13.3” monitors for $700 discounted to $432, and the Max has dual 14.1” monitors for $750 / $450.
They also have the Geminos, which I think could be a good alternative to the Aura Triple Aero 15.6. This is a dual monitor setup, but the monitors are stacked on top of each other, and they are 24” monitors. The cheapest model is $630, and each monitor has a resolution of 1920 × 1080p. The Geminos X is a touch screen and has a resolution of 2560 × 1440p per monitor, but has a premium price of $809.
Overall
I think the Aura Triple Aero 15.6 Pro Max is an excellent solution for anyone working from home who has limited space.
Setting up the monitors and getting everything connected takes just a couple of minutes, and it’s quick to pack up. You also don’t have to have any unsightly magnets or anything else attached to your laptop, and if this is a work-supplied machine, you may be prohibited from attaching stuff to it in the first place.
While I have not used it and even though it is only a dual monitor design, I feel like the Mobile Pixels Geminos X may be a superior solution thanks to the larger displays and higher resolution, but that costs around £150 (32%) more, so I’d expect it to be better.
Additionally, while this is classed as a portable monitor, portability is limited. I certainly wouldn’t be carrying this in my backpack or taking it on a flight. But, I probably would pack it in my car if I were travelling/working around the UK.
Overall, this is a niche product, but with a lot of people working from home, this will inevitably be very appealing to anyone short on space, and for those people, I can thoroughly recommend it.
