Meaco has announced the launch of a new range of portable air conditioners, the MeacoCool MC Pro Series, just in time for summer 2024. The ten models in the series are the first that can be controlled via the new Meaco app and are the company’s most energy efficient and quietest air conditioners yet, with running costs from as low as £0.17p per hour and noise levels from just 51 decibels.

Keeping Cool in the Summer

The arrival of summer brings with it a rise in temperature and humidity, which can make it difficult to work, study, or rest comfortably at home or in the office. Getting a good night’s sleep also becomes challenging when the weather turns hot and sticky.

Chris Michael, Meaco’s Managing Director, reflected on the demand for air conditioners last year, stating, “This time last year, all of our MeacoCool air conditioners were snapped up by eager customers in anticipation of another hot summer following record heat in 2020, 2021 and 2022. When people look back on summer 2023, they tend to forget just how consistently warm May and June was because of the wet July and August and then the very hot Indian summer in September. After the record temperatures of 2022, it was probably not a surprise that Meaco sold out of air conditioners by the end of June.”

Features of the MeacoCool MC Pro Series

The MeacoCool MC Pro Series includes ten BTU model sizes ranging from 7,000 to 16,000, providing localised cooling in rooms from 12M² to 40m², with an emphasis on low noise and energy efficiency for maximum comfort. Each BTU size comes with two models: a cold version and a cold/hot version, where the units come with a reverse heat pump so they can be used as heaters in the winter, making the products a useful investment all year round.

All models feature a second front-facing display, which makes it easier to get feedback on the room temperature whilst sitting down. The two-tone colouring helps the air conditioners blend into home design and matches the theme used in Meaco’s dehumidifiers and fans.

The smaller, lighter, and more compact MC Pro series for the 7-10k models is fitted with castors, making it easy to move from room to room. The new design mirrors the matt finish and colouring of “Europe’s most popular dehumidifier range – the Meaco Arete family.

The easy-to-use remote control enables full control of the air conditioner, adjusting the temperature and engaging a sleep mode to ensure a restful night’s sleep. More and more customers are trading up to the larger 12-16k models as the summers become consistently hotter, and people are understanding the benefits of using a larger model that will cool a room faster whilst making hardly any extra noise.

Multiple window kits, suitable for sash windows and sliding doors, are included to vent hot air, and a 1.8m long duct allows any excess heat to be expelled via a window.

App Control and Pre-Cooling

With the new intuitive Meaco app, available to download at the App Store or from Google Play, users can turn on the bedroom air conditioner before they return home, knowing that a cool oasis is waiting for them after a long day in the summer heat.

To get the best out of these air conditioners, Meaco recommends pre-cooling rooms, such as the bedroom, ensuring it is cooled before it needs to be used. This is easy to do with the timer function, allowing users to set both an on and off timer from anytime between one and 24 hours. Alternatively, you can schedule it to cool your bedroom by using the Meaco App on your phone. Combined with the use of Sleep Mode, which lowers the fan speed and noise level and dims the lights on the display, the MeacoCool is the perfect product to allow you to get a good night’s sleep.

Warranty and Pricing

All Meaco products come with a two-year parts and labour warranty for mainland UK, as well as the option of extending the warranty to a total of five years.

The ten models in the MeacoCool MC Pro series are priced between £329.99 to £579.99. They are available from Meaco.com, Amazon.co.uk, and from leading retailers including John Lewis, Argos, Costco, and Curry’s.

The Importance of Portable Air Conditioners

Portable air conditioners have become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly in the UK, where many homes do not have central air conditioning. These units offer a convenient and cost-effective way to cool specific rooms or areas of a home or office, providing much-needed relief during hot summer months.

One of the main advantages of portable air conditioners is their flexibility. Unlike fixed air conditioning systems, portable units can be moved from room to room as needed, allowing users to target cooling where it is most required. This is particularly useful in homes where only certain rooms, such as bedrooms or home offices, need to be cooled regularly.

Another benefit of portable air conditioners is their relatively low cost compared to installing a full central air conditioning system. For many homeowners, the expense of installing central air conditioning is simply not feasible or necessary, making portable units an attractive alternative.

However, one of the drawbacks of portable air conditioners has been their noise levels and energy efficiency. Older models often produced significant noise, which could be disruptive, especially when trying to sleep or work. They also tended to consume a lot of energy, leading to higher electricity bills.

This is where the new MeacoCool MC Pro Series stands out. By focusing on reducing noise levels and improving energy efficiency, Meaco has addressed two of the main concerns associated with portable air conditioners. With running costs as low as £0.17p per hour and noise levels from just 51 decibels, these new models offer a more comfortable and cost-effective cooling solution.

The ability to control the air conditioners via the Meaco app is another significant advantage, providing users with greater convenience and flexibility. Being able to turn on the air conditioner remotely, ensuring a cool room is waiting when you arrive home, is a feature that many users will undoubtedly appreciate.

As summers in the UK continue to get hotter, the demand for effective cooling solutions is likely to increase. With the launch of the MeacoCool MC Pro Series, Meaco is well-positioned to meet this demand, offering a range of portable air conditioners that combine advanced features, energy efficiency, and quiet operation.

Overall, the new MeacoCool MC Pro Series represents a welcome step forward in portable air conditioning technology. By addressing key concerns such as noise levels and energy consumption while also incorporating convenient features like app control, Meaco has created a range of products that are well-suited to the needs of consumers. As the UK faces increasingly hot summers, these air conditioners are likely to prove popular with homeowners and office workers alike, providing a cost-effective and efficient way to stay cool and comfortable during the warmest months of the year.
