Mobile World Congress : Samsung Beam I8520

Posted by skin On February - 15 - 2010

Obviously are straight out the blocks with the future of their phones in Barcelona. After the Wave S8500 comes the I8520 “Beam” phone.

Again we’ll see the new Super AMOLED this time at 3.7” of super sharp colourful greatness. However what differs this from the Wave is the “I” part of the model number. This means it’s OS will be . Packing a 5MP camera which shoots 720p video, 3G a-GPS and N-Standard WiFi.

What really makes this phone special though is sat right at the top of the phone……… A pico-projector! This allows you to show your videos and photos onto a white wall.It might well attract a business clientele is the ability to open MS Powerpoint documents and project them onto a wall, helping out in those board meetings and conferences. Now it won’t project HD video but you can hook it up to your HD telly and watch your captured movies.

Price and date are still TBC………

Mobile World Congress : Samsung Wave S8500

Posted by skin On February - 15 - 2010

With Mobile World Congress happening right now in Barcelona, expect a plethora of new mobile phone tech to bombard us over the coming week.

Firstly we have ’s Wave S8500. Basically this is the updated version of its popular Jet phone that debuted last year. What makes this better you ask? Well it’s Samsungs first phone to have its brand spanking new Super AMOLED display. The original AMOLED screen was great, sharp details and deep colours, but was difficult to see in sunlight. Now that’s been dealt with what you’re getting is a 3.3” WVGA screen that works superbly.

Next its also the first phone announced that will use its brand new “Bada” operating system. This works alongside TouchWiz 3.0 to provide efficient touchscreen use and widgets with a high end smartphone UI. One thing that looks great is the “Social Hub”. This is a collective inbox that puts all your messages, whether they be from IM, text or email all into one inbox.

Loos wise its a lot like a thinner version of the Jet. Specs wise it’ll pack a 1GHz processor, 3G, Wi-Fi HSDPA and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, a 5MP camera capable of 720p HD video recording. It’ll also have GPS and have support for MP4, WMV, DivX and H.263 and H.264.

No prices yet but we’re looking at a release time of April.

LG and Samsung 3DTVs coming in March

Posted by skin On February - 9 - 2010

The two Korean Electronic giants are both looking at launching their 3DTV screens as soon as next month. Samsung’s LED9000 Series TV will be its first release where will be shipping its 32-52” Infinia LE9500 range of screens.

With so much in the world appearing within the next year (Sky , gaming and more Movies) now is a good time for the release. With the obvious popularity rise in now at its highest since the 80s revolution the question asked we need to ask is “will people spend the money on what could be the next fad”. Samsung seem to think so but maybe not as highly as first anticipated. Samsung Visual Display Division chief Yoon Boo-Keun said that Samsung had dropped their target of 2.6million 3DTV sales to 2 million(still a lot of sales)

Only problem is they’re keeping shtumm about prices but i wouldn’t expect it to be anything but ludicrous!

Samsung Galaxy 2

Posted by skin On February - 1 - 2010

The Galaxy 2 is an up and coming phone from Samsung to battle against Google’s Nexus One for the top Android phone.

Like the Nexus One this baby is powered by the 1GHz Snapdragon and will deliver the goods through a 3.7” AMOLED screen and then alongside this will pack a pretty modest 5MP camera, a whopping 32GB of storage space and will all be run with Android 2.1 . This could be seen as a bit of a breakthrough with Android phones as up to now they generally sport the microSD memory expansion rather than hard storage.

Like most Samsung phones it’s easy on the eye not too fancy. One downer is the headphone jack on the side of the phone but unless you’re using it as an mp3 player or your bus faring “boom-box” this won’t pose too much of a problem.

The phone is due in Q2 and no doubt we’ll get more info probably at the in Barcelona in 2 weeks.

New Samsung Armani OLED Phone

Posted by skin On October - 5 - 2009

We’ve had a couple of these out in the past alongside the LG Prada phone, this is the phone for all the designer brand orientated of us who care not for gadgetry and specifications and just want style, class and above all looks. That’s exactly what the Samsung Armani phones deliver. The full details won’t be released till later but we’ve picked up on a leak on what to expect.

Not fully up to spec with the latest smartphones it still packs plenty of goodies. A 3.1” (yum) touchscreen and a 5MP camera the Armani also has tucked away a T9 keypad for quicker texting. It also sports a microSD slot and HSDPA for your fast connection. Lets face it though if you’re still reading this the last paragraph was of no interest to you as you’re probably still drooling over the Armani name.

Frighteningly similar in spec to the Instinct HD(USA only Samsung) but much better looking, this phone is for all fashionista wannabe’s.

Samsung 12MP Phone with Optical Zoom

Posted by skin On September - 28 - 2009

SCH-W880 is the name for the new phone from the Korean masters. As per usual they were trying to keep details “hush hush” but someone somewhere got hold of press material prior to when they should have. The leaked info, an advert, suggests that the phone will be released shortly but no exact date, and no exact place.

The advert in question however is branded with Korea’s “Anycall” logo which suggests that the W880 will definitely be out in South Korea soon but doesn’t tell us when and if its coming out here in Britain. However Samsung have never been stingy to us Brits and it wouldn’t be surprising if it was out over here sooner rather than later.

Specs :

  • 12MP with 3x Optical Zoom
  • 3.3” WVGA AMOLED screen
  • microSD
  • HSDPA
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth

Second watch Phone this Week : Samsung S9110

Posted by skin On July - 22 - 2009

After we told you all about LG’s plans for a watch phone, it’s Samsung’s turn now only this one is going to be a lot cheaper apparently.

11.98mm thick it's and has what has been said to be the world's thinnest touchscreen. Full specs on the S9110 aren’t out in full detail has such although it’s said to have a stainless steel outer shell like most watches, scratch-proof glass, Bluetooth 2.1, an MP3 player, speakerphone, voice recognition and Outlook email syncing.

This information has come out of Korea saying that the S9110 will be out in France next month for around 450 Euros. So hopefully it shouldn’t be too long before it hops over the channel.
