What should you have in mind when you want to buy a full HD laptop

Sharing is caring!

Buying a new laptop is exciting but also requires quite a lot of research. The main criteria for most people is a good screen resolution, which is why they only look at full HD laptops. Full HD means that the screen has a minimum of 1920 x 1080 pixels and is better quality / clearer.

However, this still leaves you with plenty of choices as there are lots of full HD laptops, all with different features and capacities. Choosing one that is right for you is key. Here’s the most important things to consider when buying a full HD laptop:

Set yourself a budget

Nowadays, you can buy a full HD laptop for a very affordable price – there are even options under £300. Saying that, you can also spend over £1,000 on a full HD laptop but also get additional functionality. So if your main goal is to buy a laptop with great screen resolution, you really don’t need to spend that much money. It’s always helpful to set yourself a rough budget, which then makes it much easier to narrow down your search.

The use of your laptop

When looking for a laptop, you need to know what exactly it will be used for. If you’re buying it for your general use around the house, such as watching films or online shopping, you will likely not have many specific needs for a laptop. However, buying a laptop for a business use, university or gaming requires a bit more thinking. For instance, a gaming laptop needs to have a better processor, while a business laptop should be light to carry around and last a long time.

The size

The size of your laptop is very important, so make sure you consider that as well. There are laptops with various screen sizes:  from 11 to 17 inches. The smaller your laptop, the more portable it is to travel with. On the other hand, the larger laptops are better to watch films and shows, but they may also be a lot heavier and more awkward to carry around. Again, this is down to your preferences and how you will use your laptop.

Battery life

When picking a laptop, have a look at the battery it comes with. A lot of the time, the number of hours it should last varies based on how bright you keep your screen or the types of programs you use. A good way to compare the times is by looking at the battery size – that’s the number that shows Watt-hours (Wh) or milliamp-hours (mAh). The bigger this number is, the longer the battery will last. This is always an important consideration, especially if you will be travelling a lot with your laptop.

Other key specs

If you want, you can get very technical with your laptop search and start looking into the key specs: whether you want to get an SSD instead of hard drive, how much RAM you want your laptop to have, how powerful the processor should be and so on.

A lot of people don’t understand the technical terms and just stick to general recommendations when buying a laptop. However, if you want to get the very best / most powerful laptop possible for your budget, understanding and comparing the key specs will be essential.
