Many enthusiast gamers have been eagerly waiting for the new generation of 4K monitors that comes with DisplayPort 1.4 which will allow a resolution of 4K a 120Hz.
The Acer Predator X27 and Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ are available for pre-order for insane amounts of money – the 27-inch size isn’t ideal for many at 4K either.
A relatively unknown Korean brand appears to be offering the product many of us have been dreaming about, the Wasabi Mango U490 is a 43-inch display which is a perfect size for 4K and uses DisplayPort 1.4 allowing for 120Hz with support for full 4:4:4 chroma.
The display is an AH-IPS panel with 10-bit colour support and a 5ms GTG response time. The main downside is the peak nits of 400 which is a long way off the 1000nits requirements for full HDR10 or the UHD premium specification.

It is unclear whether it uses edge-lit dimming or full array local dimming, but its relatively low brightness could suggest edge-lit.
Other features of the monitor include a contrast ratio of 1,200:1, dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and viewing angles of ±178º
Sadly, at the moment there is only one Korean seller, and the price of the unit is £1,033.01 with free shipping. While this is cheaper than the Acer and Asus options, you will be getting basically no warranty and using a lesser known brand.
