Smart lock company August Home Acquired by Traditional Lock Company Yale

Sharing is caring!

This is an interesting but sensible acquisition, one of the leading smart lock companies August Home have been acquired by the lock super brand Yale.

In the UK there has been no availability of August smart locks, but Yale has actually released several smart locks of their own, which we have covered. Obviously, they are keen on increasing their position in the smart lock industry, and August Home will be an important acquisition for them.

Technically it is the parent company of Yale that is making the purchase, so it will be interesting to see if August Home gets folded into the Yale brand or not.

ASSA's executive vice president Thanasis Molokotos said in a statement.

“August Home strengthens our residential smart door strategy with complementary smart locks, expansion into video doorbells and comprehensive solutions for home delivery”

“We have always admired the design and quality of Yale locks,” August CEO Jason Johnson said in a press release. “This is a great opportunity for us to work with the world's largest lock and access company.”
