Pebble has was one of the first and is still one of the most successful smart watches. It was originally announced on Kickstarter and become one of the biggest successes for the site ever.
Based on the Kickstarter success, Pebble have decided to launch their new Pebble Time on there too. The decision appears to have been a good one as they raised $500K in just 17 minutes, and in less than a day it has raised over $8 million.
The new version is a colour e-paper smartwatch with up to 7 days of battery and a new timeline interface that highlights what's important in your day.
The new Pebble time will also feature a microphone for responding to notifications, it is water resistant and will be fully compatible with the 6,500+ existing Pebble apps and watchfaces.
The original, and the new Time are not the best looking or most functional of smartwatches but the main selling point has always been the excellent batter life and relatively low cost.
The Time, however, does have some aesthetic improvements including being 20% thinner than the original Pebble at just 9.5mm. Its ergonomic, curved design fits comfortably on either wrist and slides easily under dress shirts.
The lens is crafted from scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass with a bezel made of stainless steel.
The time will also accept all standard 22mm watch bands allowing you to customise it how you like.
Shipping starts in May 2015, the early bird at $159 is gone but they still have the $179 version left. Full retail will be $199.
