LG held a press conference today and from it came two new “Optimus phones”. The main two revealed are the Optimus One and the Optimus Chic. Both have been knocking about the rumour threads for a while but now they’ve got there official status from LG and despite the addition of Android 2.2 “Froyo” OS to the phones the specs aren’t as great as the rest of the modern smartphones being released at them moment. However LG is pushing these as a cheaper smartphone for the masses rather than a super smartphone for the elite.
The Optimus One is a 3.2” HVGA(320 x 480), Android 2.2 Froyo(with LG Skin) sporting affair that comes with a 3MP camera, WiFi and a 1500mAh battery for extended life on the go. The downer is that it’s only got a 600MHz processor. One interesting feature was the App Advisor. An app which tells you which apps are worth downloading from the Android Market.
The Chic is slightly better than the One, same processor speed same screenage. However the Chic looks more “Chic”. Also it ups the camera to 5MP and has DLNA network streaming, just like the Samsung Galaxy S, allowing you to stream media from your PC.
The Optimus One is due in October and the Chic will be available a month later in November. Unfortunately we don’t have a price to put with them.
