ChromeOS has been mainly reserved for laptops until now. LG has decided to try and buck this trend by announcing the LG Chromebase, a 21.5-inch ChromeOS powered all in one desktop. The display is 1080p IPS LCD which hides an Intel Celeron CPU, 2GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD inside.
You will also find your usual inputs as well as a HDMI port which will allow it to be used as a monitor. There is also a 1.3 megapixel webcam and a microphone for easy video calling, as well as a pair of built-in 5W speakers.
Obviously this is not going to compete against your high end gaming PCs but it could make a great option for children or relatives that are less tech savvy than our readers.
Unfortunately there is not pricetag at the moment so we can’t say for sure if it would be worth it, but we hope it will be a reasonable price.
The computer will be on display at LG’s booth at CES 2014 from 7 January until 10 January.
