Lenovo is currently receiving quite a bit of backlash from the announcement fo the new Lenovo Z5. In the past few weeks, we have seen design scatches showing that the phone would have a near 100% screen to body ratio followed by renders that claimed a 95% ratio with no notch.
Sadly the reality isn’t quite that, while the ratio is impressive, there is a notch and noticeable bottom lip. Lenovo claims a 90% ratio but if you look at the GSM Arena specifications it has an 83.6% screen-to-body ratio.
If GSM Arena is correct large amounts of the design and specification are identical to the Asus Zenfone 5. The main difference in the physical dimensions is the weight with the Lenovo being 10g heavier and using a glass back, compared to the Zenfone that has an aluminium body. Then there are some minor differences with memory, card slots, and cameras.
The above photos are 2 from the Asus event I tool at MWC and one of the Lenovo Z5 that was posted on twitter. If anything the Lenovo looks to have a fatter edge, but that could be the angles of the photos.

If GSM Arena is correct then it looks like phones are essentially the same and each company has made some minor tweaks to differentiate each other. The Lenovo is claimed to be cheaper which would be a good reason to cut back on some specs such as the Bluetooth 5. Regardless of the similarities, and the disappointing reality, the pricing is good, for the specification, and the Zenfone 5 looked great in real life so the same should be true for the Lenovo Z5.
