Some European retailers have been a little eager to list the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro on their website, and have revealed the pricing.

The handset will start at €259 for the 6GB/64GB memory configuration while doubling the storage will set you back €289.

As usual with Xiaomi, UK availability will not be immediately available, and when it does land in the UK they will probably jack up the prices. However, you can normally buy these from Amazon Spain with no import costs and the above prices would work out as £230 and £256 if you use a card such as Monzo.

The Note 8 Pro is set to continue the Xiaomi trend of big specs for little money.

This phone has two particular highlights, it will be the first phone to feature  Samsung’s Bright GW1 64MP camera sensor, surpassing the current common 48MP cameras on the market.  Xiaomi has also teased that the 64MP camera will offer upto (digital) 25x zoom.

That massive sensor will be joined by three others including a 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP dedicated macro, and a 2MP TOF depth sensor.

The other interesting feature is the inclusion of the new MediaTek’s gaming-focused Helio G90T processor, again making this a first to market. Mediatek is typically used in much lower-priced phones, but the Helio G90T looks like it will offer performance equivalent of the Snapdragon 730G and the Kirin 810. However, it is made on a larger fabrication process, so it will be interesting to see what the battery performance is like compared to similar phones with the other chipsets.

Other specifications include a 6.5-inch 1080p screen with a small notch hiding a 20MP selfie camera, a 4,500mAh battery, and a rear mounted fingerprint scanner.

There will also be a more affordable Redmi Note 8 launching with a smaller screen, lower specced camera and a Snapdragon 665 system on chip.
