A listing has popped up on Geekbench under the name Google Coral, witch the exact identity of the device unknown. However it is speculated that is could be a new Chromebook device and not a smartphone.

The Google Coral runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 that will be powering most of the flagship devices this year. According to Geekbench, the device only has 6GB of RAM, which is decent but less than expected with other 2019 devices coming out between 8GB and 12GB. Compared to the current Pixel lineup though, 6GB of RAM is actually a decent improvement.

The listing reveals the device is currently being tested on the Android Q operating system. The next version of Android is expected to be unveiled by Google at the I/O conference in May this year. However, the final stable version of Android Q will begin rolling out only in the second half of the year.

The device scored a bit lower than expected from the new Qualcomm chips with 3,296 points in the single-core test and 9,235 points in the multi-core test. This could be due to Android Q being an early build and not optimised yet.

Some of the features expected to launch with Android Q include a system wide dark mode. A completely revamped interface for app and user info permissions, and also possibly a new desktop mode similar to Samsung DeX.

Don’t get your hopes up for a release soon though, Google announce their new OS first, which will be May, and there devices later in the year. So it is expected that this will land sometime in October.

Google is expected to launch some devices sooner than this, but these will be part of the Pixel 3 lineup and include the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite. It is believed these will launch arround spring.
