The Garmin Edge 1030 Plus is available now for £519.99 with a 1-3 day processing time. In comparison, the existing Garmin Edge 1030 is sold on the site for £499.

However, Wiggle and other sellers have been selling the older model for as little as £412.99, but they are currently out of stock. They do have the bundle available for £539 though.

What’s Different?

The small price change is a good indication of how little has changed. So rather than going over the full specifications further down, it is easier to say what is different.

The Garmin Edge 1030 Plus now has:

• 24 Hours battery life vs 20 hours
• 32GB internal storage (no mention of microSD) vs 16GB plus microSD
• They have got rid of Wi-Fi
• Under the safety features, there is now an assistance function
• Added a bike alarm
• Added daily workout suggestions
• Added MTB Dynamics
• Added Integrated TrailForks trail data

Get ready for any ride, from remote gravel trails to epic climbs, with the Edge 1030 Plus. Preloaded Garmin Cycle Maps have wider coverage than ever before across the United States and Europe and include turn-by-turn navigation and alerts that notify riders of sharp curves ahead. Cyclists can create new rides and courses right on their device or use Trendline popularity routing to find routes based on billions of miles of ride data that other users have uploaded. For riders using platforms like Strava and Komoot, they can create courses and seamlessly sync them to their device. While out for a ride, cyclists can now pause route guidance and off course notifications if they choose to explore off the beaten path. When they’re ready to get back on track, the Edge 1030 Plus will guide cyclists back to the route or back to where they originally started their ride. Using the preloaded Trailforks app, riders can view trail details from more than 80 countries right on the device. When stopped mid-ride, Forksight mode automatically displays upcoming forks in the trail and shows riders where they are within a trail network.

Cyclists using the Edge 1030 Plus can easily track their VO2 max, recovery time, training load, training focus and more to see how their body is responding to their efforts.1 They will even get daily workout suggestions based on their current training load and VO2 max. The Edge 1030 Plus lets riders see how their body is holding up in different environments with heat and altitude acclimation2 and receive in-ride notifications when it’s time to refuel or rehydrate. In addition to jump count, jump distance and hang time, other mountain bike features include Grit, which rates the difficulty of a ride using GPS, elevation and accelerometer data, and Flow, which measures how smoothly a cyclist descends a trail.

Cyclists can ride in just moments, instead of wasting time configuring settings after powering the Edge 1030 Plus on for the first time. Riders will now get prepopulated custom ride profiles based on their previous Edge settings, while new users will automatically receive the most popular set-ups from other users based on their sensors and ride types. What’s more, the Edge 1030 Plus easily pairs with a Tacx® indoor trainer so cyclists can ride whenever they want.3 Safety and smart features let cyclists stay connected while out for a ride.2 In addition to receiving smart notifications and automatically uploading rides to Garmin Connect, the Edge 1030 Plus can be paired with an inReach® device so users can view and reply to messages, share trip data and trigger interactive SOS alerts with an inReach subscription.4 Additional safety features include group messaging and tracking to let cyclists stay in touch when they get separated from the pack.2 The Edge 1030 Plus features up to 24 hours of battery life while using GPS, multiple paired sensors and connected features, including LiveTrack. Cyclists will see double the battery life when using the optional Garmin Charge™ power pack.

An eagle eye Reddit user has noticed a new product listing from the Garmin website, unfortunately in the 2 hours since the post was made the product page has already been taken down.

The user claims that the device has a 5-8 week processing time.

The device has been expected for a while now, and yesterday and FCC application was made referencing the Edge 1030 plus.

So far the only information revealed is that the 1030 Plus is the same as the Edge 1030 in size and resolution, but it is black, not white and weighs one gram less. The Plus has a 24-hour battery vs up to 20. It has double the storage (32 GB) but no sd expansion. It has MTB dynamics, trail forks integration, daily workout suggestions, incident assistance, bike alarm.

However, there is not much difference in features when you compare it to the Edge 830. Apart from the larger screen size, the Edge 1030 has a superior battery and (24hr vs up to 20 hr) and the Daily workout suggestions.

The big selling point for the existing 1030 is its large 3.5-inch display running at 282 x 470 pixels. In comparison, the Edge 830 has a 2.6-inch display running at 246 x 322 pixels.

Previous plus models take features from the model sitting above them, however, with the Edge 1030 already sitting at the top it is a little early to tell exactly what else could be included.

There is obviously no word on pricing yet but the current Garmin Edge 1030 is £415 with an RRP of £499 and the Garmin Edge 830 is £329.
