And it’s finally official! The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X has been officially announced with 12-core, 24-thread, 4.6Ghz Boost, 3.8Ghz 105W.

AMD announced they have increased the single threaded performacne by 32% from the last first generation Zen chips, and doubled the multi thread performance.

They put the new flagship chip up against the £1k+ Intel Core i9 9920X in Blender and the Ryzen 9 3900X came out perming 18% better. That is while using a lower TDP than the intel with 105W vs 165W.

AMD has officially announced that the new chip will cost just $499 and will be available from 7th July

Furthermore, the other 2 chips announced include the Ryzen 3800X with 8-core 16 threads and 4.5/3.9Ghz boost/base and TDP of $399 for just £399.

Thent the Ryzen 7 3700X with 8-cores 16 thrreads with 4.4/3.4Ghz boost/base with a TDP of just 65w and a price of £329

Interestingly, this is a good time to point out why we shouldnt get too excited about leaks. While this launch is definitely impressive, it is less so than the leaks would suggest.

Previous leaks have the Ryzen 7 3700 with 12 / 24 running at 3.8 / 4.6GHz and 95w for $35 with a now none existant Ryzen 9 3850X 16 / 32 running at 4.3 / 5.1GHz and 135W TDP for $561
