So far 4k has not really reached the PC Monitor market with the exception of the excruciatingly expensive (but amazing) 31.5” Asus PQ321QE at £3k. Now it would appear that Dell are looking at getting into the 4k market, though strangely rather than releasing a 4k version of their 30” Ultrasharp range they are planning on releasing a 24” model which will be a IPS LED panel with 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and 185 pixels per inch.
The UP2414Q has an 8-bit panel, with Advanced Frame Rate Control (AFRC) to try to simulate 10-bit colour. Apparently it lacks HDMI 2.0 so will only be able to handle refresh rates of 30Hz using the HDMI connector, but it will include a DisplayPort 1.2 for 60Hz.
There is no price or availability yet but expect to to be priced towards the professional market rather than us consumers.
