BQ were an unknown company to us until recently, but they appear to be making a decent name for themselves.
Today they have announced that they will be taking pre-orders for their Aquaris M10 HD Ubuntu Edition for €259 or the FHD edition for €299. This will be the first official Ubuntu tablet.
Unlike other mobile OS based tablets, Canonical's open source software, can switch to a desktop PC mode when you attach an external display, keyboard and mouse.
The 2 models are nearly the same apart from the screen resolution of either 1,280 x 800 or 1,920 x 1,200.
There seems to be some confusion about the CPU speed, several blogs are saying the HD model has 1.3GHz MediaTek Quad Core MT8163A SOC and the FHD has 1.5GHz, but BQ are listing them as the same.
The other specifications are identical with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of eMMC memory, MediaTek Mali-T720 MP2 up to 600 MHz GPU, Micro SD slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS, and a 7280 mAh battery.
The current pre-order prices include the tablet, cover, and screen protector. Deliveries on the Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Tablet are expected to begin the second week of April. You can pre-order the tablets here and here.
