Blink have officially announced that they have been acquired by Amazon.

Blink is one of the many home monitoring security cameras I have reviewed in the past year or so. It is also one of the best due to its low cost, wire-free design that uses AA batteries. It is also one of the best sellers for that niche on Amazon, so it seems like a good partnership for both companies.

The official announcement from Blink states:

We’re excited to announce that Blink has been acquired by Amazon! Since launching in early 2016, we’ve been thrilled by your response to our ultra-affordable, truly wire-free video home security cameras and monitoring systems.

If you own one of our systems, nothing changes for now. We’ll continue to operate under the Amazon umbrella selling and supporting the same great products you know and love. It’s Day 1 for us at Amazon, and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can deliver to our customers together.

While things are not supposed to change according to the official announcement, several users have pointed out that Blink has withdrawn support for SmatThings just a few days before the announcement.

Hopefully, this is just coincidence, and the acquisition will end up allowing Blink to become an even better product than it already is.
