Apple HDMI Adaptor : iPad 1/2 iPod touch and iPhone supported

Connectivity between your devices and your TV especially those with camera/video functions is a must these days with new PMPs and mobile smartphones with HDMI out ports so you can see your images and videos in fullscreen, HD goodness. This has eluded portable Apple owners for sometime although there has been the component out lead which retailing at £39.99 was neither cheap nor the simplest form of outputting your goods to the telly. FINALLY Apple is releasing a HDMI adaptor. Yes that’s right lets not incorporate it into our future products, make the customer buy yet another accessory for their iPod, iPhone or iPad.   With the iPad 2 showcased last week Apple also demonstrated its new HDMI adaptor basically plugging into the Apple adaptor port at the base with a HDMI out port then attached to the adaptor. Supporting iPhone 4, 4th generation iPod touch and both the original iPad and the future iPad2. The iPad2 will output at Full 1080p HD whereas the others will only get up to 720p due to the fact the iPad2’s new A4 chipset will give the Full HD support whereas the older chipsets in the iPhone, iPod and iPad can’t handle it.   On the Apple store the HDMI adaptor is listed as the “Digital AV Adaptor” set as coming soon and with a RRP of $39 so if the American...

Olympus Tough TG-810 : “Tough Cam”

We’ve seen a lot of new cameras coming into circulation recently with super tough exteriors, capable of withstanding anything we can possible throw at them, designed to be taken outdoors. Perfect for those who are little adventurous whether on land (hiking, rock climbing) or sea (scuba, diving) Soon there will be nowhere you can’t get that snap to put in your memory box. Also now it appears cameras do more than just take pictures. I reckon this is all down to the smartphone. A lot of people stopped using their standalone cameras due to how much better smartphone cameras have got and there being no need to have one, but with photography making a comeback the camera has to evolve and this Olympus certainly is your “missing link”   Firstly the TG-810 is rock solid. With a sliding double lock mechanism and metal lens barrier this camera is a tough cookie. It is shockproof to 2m can withstand cold temperatures to –10 and is waterproof right down to 10m AND can withstand a whole 100Kg of pressure on top of it. So sitting on it wont break it either. The body is also scratch resistant. As well as the usual cables, the camera is Eye-Fi compatible allowing wireless connectivity too.   Also packing a 14MP sensor the TG-810 has a plethora of other goodies and gadgets. Firstly for the...

Dell Venue Pro : FINALLY HERE!!

Computer giants Dell are usually pretty punctual with its releases and their products are guaranteed to be of a pretty high standard. Obviously now not just in the computer business but with a catalogue of smartphones to its name Dell was supposed to release the Venue Pro, its first foray into a Windows Mobile 7 operated mobile, some months ago but due to some “Firmware issues” it has since been put back twice but is now available. Not only was it Dell’s first Windows phone but it was scheduled to be the first windows phone to have a slide out QWERTY keyboard but due to the delays has now been beaten by the HTC Pro 7.   So what’s inside Qualcomm 8250 SnapDragon 1GHz processor 5MP Camera with LED Flash 512MB RAM 16GB internal storage WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, AGPS 4.1” 800×480 AMOLED screen Available now direct from Dell at £459 SIM Free, I wonder if those who waited for this phone to show still waited or maybe had their heads turned by the HTC. Samsung Galaxy S II

With the meteoric rise of the smartphone, especially the iPhone and the BlackBerry it took a special phone from their competitors to match them. Samsung and Android did just that with the Galaxy S. A super fast, super bright smartphone  that did pretty much everything an iPhone can do and more yet still keep a lower price and certainly better longevity before Samsung decide to take it to the next level. Well now we have it’s sequel on its way, the Galaxy S II.   So what’s it got? 1GHz Dual-Core processor 4.3” Super AMOLED screen 8MP Rear Facing Camera Full 1080pHD recording 2MP Front Facing Camera Super sleek design (8.49mm thick and weighs just 116g) 16GB or 32GB models HDMI out 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, AGPS DLNA So the specs look pretty decent and we all know that Samsung have got better and better at their smartphones and Android is now the most popular OS so when can we get the next generation of Galaxy phone? There’s several conflicting sources about on the internet at the moment. Expansys had just a price of £649.99 where as online retailer Clove had it down at £612 with a March release. Then Play.com came along and is allowing people to pre-order it at £599.99 with a May 6th shipping date. Who’s right?? Personally I’d go with play.com but certainly if you’re...
