Sonos One Launched: The Sonos Smart Speaker

With Amazon, Google, and Apple all having smart speakers now, it was inevitable that the multi-room streaming specialist Sonos would enter the market. The Sonos One is essentially a Sonos Play 1 but with Amazon’s Alexa assistant built in. In 2018, Sonos says it will support Google’s Assistant, too. Available for pre-order now and priced at £199 it is only £20 more expensive than the original Play 1 and with the added smart features it is the logical choice over the 2. As a personal user of the Play 1 I can vouch for it, it is far from...

Google’s Launches Pixel Buds – Bluetooth Earbuds for Pixel 2

While I loathe the trend of ditching the 3.5mm jack, the most interesting product at Googles launch was their Pixel Buds, a pair of Bluetooth earbuds with a difference. It was inevitable they would release some earbuds if they ditched the 3.5mm, but thankfully the Pixel Buds look pretty good. These new earphones don’t just handle your music but you can use it to access Google assistant which will allow you to control your phone remotely. While I certainly won't be doing that on a busy commute on public transport, it is an amazing feature for the fitness enthusiast....

Google announces Pixelbook convertible

Google hasn't released a tablet for a while now, and it looks like they may be giving up on Android in tablet form. Instead, they are focussing their efforts on the 2-in-1 market with the launch of the Pixelbook. Priced at from £999 it runs Chrome OS which can now run all your Android apps too, so you still have all the functionality of a tablet. However, the pricing does make it just as expensive as many fully fledged 2-in-1s so it will be interesting to see if it can achieve decent sales. It has the specification of...

Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL Announced

The heavily leaked and hotly anticipated Pixel 2 and 2XL have finally been announced. The 2 phones are actually made by different manufacturers the Pixel 2 was made by HTC and the Pixel 2 XL by LG but design wise they are very similar, just different sizes. The smaller Pixel uses an FHD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED at 441ppi display while the XL uses a QHD+ (2880 x 1440) pOLED at 538ppi. The POLED technology should be more and generally better than the AMOLED. Both phones have Snapdragon 835, 4GB of RAM and between 64GB and 128GB storage standard,...

iSmartAlarm SPOT+ Indoor WiFi Security Camera Review ISC5P2

I think the iSmartAlarm SPOT+ is the cheapest indoor CCTV camera I have been sent to date. My pack was the dual camera version which sells on Amazon for just £54.99. At this price, you have to wonder if this can possibly perform well? So, let’s find out! The cameras themselves are nicely sized and the cube shape is attractive. They are much more plasticy than the likes of the Y-Cam Evo, but this is to be expected based on the price. Due to its lightweight plastiky build, the base actually works really well, there is no wobble and...
