Amazon Fire TV Cube Announced – 4K Ultra HD Fire TV with Alexa

Sharing is caring!

We have already reported that there was an Amazon Fire TV Cube in the works and now it is official. The new  Amazon Fire TV Cube, a hands-free 4K Ultra HD streaming media player with Alexa allows you to control your TV from across the room. You can find and watch your favourite TV shows and movies, power your TV on and off, change the volume, switch to different inputs, and change the cable channel—all with just your voice. Even with the TV off, you can simply say a command and Fire TV Cube powers on the TV and sound system and starts playback right where you left off.

There is no word on the hardware specification of it, so we don't know how it compares to the current Amazon 4K dongle or the original Amazon 4k. The YouTube advert states that it is 4K HDR with Dolby Atmos though.

It is unclear whether there is an ethernet port or not but it will ship with an Ethernet adapter, so maybe a USB to Ethernet, like you have to use on the dongle.

As usual with Amazon devices, they are launches in America first with no word on UK availability.  Pre-orders starting today for $119.99 and ships with an IR extender cable and Ethernet adapter beginning on June 21. As an introductory offer, Prime members can pre-order Fire TV Cube on June 7 and 8 for a special price of $89.99—a $30 savings.

From my experience the Amazon Fire TV 4K is the best device for media streaming and 4K content, it is more affordable than the Shield, and has better 4K HDR compatibility than Android TV boxes.
