YouTube may show full Sony movies

Posted by James On April - 7 - 2009

YouTube is said to be in talks with Pictures about licensing full-length movies for distribution via the popular video sharing site.

YouTube already has deals in place that allow it to show full music videos (except the UK!) TV segments from several US networks including ESPN, ABC and Disney and some movies owned by MGM.

It is believed that YouTube will be requesting to show the movies for free which are paid for via advertising.

Unfortunately the outlook doesn't look great for us Brits as copyright law varies region to region and it is likely the deal will be restricted to US users only!

24 Samsung SSD’s in Raid on 1 system

Posted by James On March - 9 - 2009

Ok the video is a bit cheesy and annoying but Samsung have had a viral video created to show of their Solid State Drives. Using 24 SSDs in Raid (RAID 0?) they managed to achieve 2GB a second throughput. In comparison your average HD will likely have speeds of around 100MBs a second.

Video: Blackberry Storm ad attacks Apple

Posted by James On March - 2 - 2009

have released a pretty cool video for the storm. The only problem I can see here is that when made the Mac vs PC ads they kinda had a point, whereas I think it is generally regarded that the iPhone is much better than the Storm.

Oh well, it is a good advert anyway!

T-Mobile G1 Vs iPhone 3G Video Reviews

Posted by James On November - 18 - 2008

Android-G1 Phones Review have posted 2 links to You Tube video reviews comparing the iPhone and G1.

The reviewer is quite thorough and basically shows you many features of each phone and compares the two together to see what one is better.

Personally I am not a huge fan so I am a bit biased against the iPhone, however you can't deny it is a good phone. I feel that the G1 has more flaws than the 3G iPhone however this is the first incarnation of the phone, and if we look at the first iPhone that had even more flaws, especially the lack of 3G!!!

I think Android/G1 is more of a grower and not a shower at the moment. I do have complete confidence that Android will become the best Smartphone OS out there it just requires a hardware manufacturer to release something to make the most of the OS. It also means that Android could potentially have hundreds of different hardware options at any one time. This is where the iPhone is let down, there is only 1 company releasing hardware for it so the phone will always have people that don't like something about it.
