Samsung BD-C8500M Blu-Ray

Posted by skin On March - 10 - 2010

Quite possibly the best sounding player at the moment, and you’ll think so too after reading about this “blighty”-fied masterpiece.

The BD-C8500M is a 3D player with everything and I mean everything you could possibly want or need in a media playing marvel. Not only will it play your Blu-Rays but inside it has a DVB-T2 tuner, yes thats right a “FREEVIEW HD READY TUNER.” Not only that it’s also packing a 500MB HDD to record it all onto and with the World Cup coming soon there’s no better way to get yourself ready for it with this.

Wait there’s more!! It also can connect to the Internet@TV platform. This allows the user to use an on-demand service including BBC iPlayer and that lovely LoveFilm movie streaming service. One can also stream media straight from your desktop, laptop or server(whichever you have) as it has Wi-Fi and is DLNA certified.

Coming Soon, around April/May time we don’t have a price on it yet but I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this despite the fact it should have a hefty price tag to match the weight of spec.

Posted by skin On February - 9 - 2010

With so much in the 3D world appearing within the next year (Sky 3D, 3D gaming and more 3D Movies) now is a good time for the release. With the obvious popularity rise in 3D now at its highest since the 80s 3D revolution the question asked we need to ask is “will people spend the money on what could be the next fad”. seem to think so but maybe not as highly as first anticipated. Visual Display Division chief Yoon Boo-Keun said that had dropped their target of 2.6million 3DTV sales to 2 million(still a lot of sales)

Only problem is they’re keeping shtumm about prices but i wouldn’t expect it to be anything but ludicrous!

Samsung Galaxy 2

Posted by skin On February - 1 - 2010

The Galaxy 2 is an up and coming phone from to battle against Google’s Nexus One for the top Android phone.

Like the Nexus One this baby is powered by the 1GHz Snapdragon and will deliver the goods through a 3.7” AMOLED screen and then alongside this will pack a pretty modest 5MP camera, a whopping 32GB of storage space and will all be run with Android 2.1 . This could be seen as a bit of a breakthrough with Android phones as up to now they generally sport the microSD memory expansion rather than hard storage.

Like most phones it’s easy on the eye not too fancy. One downer is the headphone jack on the side of the phone but unless you’re using it as an mp3 player or your bus faring “boom-box” this won’t pose too much of a problem.

The phone is due in Q2 and no doubt we’ll get more info probably at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in 2 weeks.

New Samsung Armani OLED Phone

Posted by skin On October - 5 - 2009

We’ve had a couple of these out in the past alongside the Prada phone, this is the phone for all the designer brand orientated of us who care not for gadgetry and specifications and just want style, class and above all looks. That’s exactly what the Samsung Armani phones deliver. The full details won’t be released till later but we’ve picked up on a leak on what to expect.

Not fully up to spec with the latest smartphones it still packs plenty of goodies. A 3.1” (yum) touchscreen and a 5MP camera the Armani also has tucked away a T9 keypad for quicker texting. It also sports a microSD slot and HSDPA for your fast connection. Lets face it though if you’re still reading this the last paragraph was of no interest to you as you’re probably still drooling over the Armani name.

Frighteningly similar in spec to the Instinct HD(USA only Samsung) but much better looking, this phone is for all fashionista wannabe’s.

Samsung 12MP Phone with Optical Zoom

Posted by skin On September - 28 - 2009

SCH-W880 is the name for the new phone from the Korean masters. As per usual they were trying to keep details “hush hush” but someone somewhere got hold of press material prior to when they should have. The leaked info, an advert, suggests that the phone will be released shortly but no exact date, and no exact place.

The advert in question however is branded with Korea’s “Anycall” logo which suggests that the W880 will definitely be out in South Korea soon but doesn’t tell us when and if its coming out here in Britain. However Samsung have never been stingy to us Brits and it wouldn’t be surprising if it was out over here sooner rather than later.

Specs :

  • 12MP with 3x Optical Zoom
  • 3.3” WVGA AMOLED screen
  • microSD
  • HSDPA
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth

Samsung to mass produce PRAM chips from June

Posted by James On May - 6 - 2009

Samsung's phase change RAM will go into mass production starting in June. These chips represent a big evolutions from traditional RAM. The PRAM chips can rewrite data without having to erase what's already on there first allowing them to perform up to 30x quicker and last 10x longer than traditional flash memory.

Phase-change Random Access Memory (PRAM) uses a material that turns crystalline when heated. The clrystalline bits represent the logical "1" in the binary system of computers, while amorphous areas (bits) represent logical "0"
PRAM is also more scalable than any other memory architecture being researched and features the fast processing speed of RAM for its operating functions combined with the non-volatile features of flash memory for storage.
