On first looks the Arena looks like a smaller, slightly fatter iPhone. The screen takes up most of the phone with three buttons at the bottom of the screen and a small camera at the top. On the back of the phone, the camera lens is very small as to is the flash. The brushed metal finish is attractive  but the plastic back seems to get dirty quick. Being a touchscreen phone thats very iPhone looking, this is obviously LG’s attempt to draw in those customers that Apple has attracted. However a smartphone this is not but this doesn’t stop it being a good all round phone.

In such a competitive market companies need to gain as much market share as possible. One of LGs tactics is to release an absolutely huge number of phones, clearly trying to appeal to as many tastes as possible. The other technique they seem to be using is to try and stand out from the crowd. They have already announce their flagship LG ARENA KM900 which uses a new 3D user interface. Now they are mixing things up a little and have announced the worlds first phone that has transparent features!

The LG GD900 certainly is eye catching and LG have promised the handset will feature premium technical specs, including a dedicated Bluetooth headset.

The handset is due for release in the 2nd quarter of 2009.

We previously blogged about the new LG Arena (KM900) but details we a little sketchy. The only info we had was that it would use a new 3D user interface and features WiFi, A-GPS, HSDPA, a 5.0megapixel camera, DIVX and Dolby technologies.

LG have officially announced it at the Mobile World Congress so we have more details and a video!

As well as the above features the phone will be 105.9 x 55.3 x 11.95/mm and the screen is WVGA (480x800) capacitive touchscreen, it also has 8GB internal memory and an external MicroSD slot. Pretty impressive so far!

LG Arena KM900

LG are planning on releasing a hell of a lot of handsets this year, and they have officially announced their flagship mobile phone for 2009, the LG ARENA (LG-KM900).

The new LG Arena will feature a new 3D user interface which is planned to be revealed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week. The new 3D interface is supposed to be a more fun and engaging gateway to delivering an amazing multimedia experience.

The phone features WiFi, A-GPS, HSDPA, a 5.0megapixel camera, DIVX and Dolby technologies. Unfortunately there are no other spec’s released yet until the press conference at Mobile World Congress on February 16th at 2.00pm (CET).
