Asus PG276 : 27” 3D Monitor

Posted by skin On March - 8 - 2010

Taiwanese giants Asus have recently announced this monstrous new 27” monitor with support. Asus seem to be embracing the new future of tech already with a supported laptop out on the market and it seems to continue here with this super monitor.

Design wise it’s not the best looking monitor in the world but Asus can please aesthetically if they want. Quality is the name of the game here though, 27” screen with vision support, will also be available in a smaller 23”(MG236 and VG236H) and 23.6”(PG246)(but why would you want that when you can get 27?). It has dual link DVI allows for full 1080p HD quality images at a staggering 60fps so when you slap on your specs, the image is smooth and jerk free.

Due out later in the year, we don’t have any price available as of yet so keep your eye out for that. It is believed however that the smaller model will be available before the gargantuan one.

Asus O!Play Air Media Streamer

Posted by skin On February - 9 - 2010

Looking for a decent media streamer? Not got a PS3 or 360?(maybe you do and you want something a little more dedicated.) Then Taiwanese specialists ASUS are letting us in Blighty get our grubby little mitts on the O!PlayAir HDP-R3.

Not the first media streamer ASUS have brought to the table but this one is its first to incorporate WiFi a must in most peoples eyes for a good media streamer. Now this baby is packing N-standard WiFi so if you’ve got an N enabled WiFi network you’ll get the full benefits.

So what does it do? Well firstly plug it into your TV via HDMI. Set up the usual settings of your network and BAM! you can play media wirelessly straight from your PC(providing your up to date with your Windows Media Player) or media server. For those who have ethernet connections, you can use that too.It plays all your standard file types, AVI, MP4, MPG etc but the bonus it does is play MKV which if you’re not familiar with seems to be the most used now for HD content.

Asus haven’t set a UK price yet but the HDP-R3 is retailing in Italy at €129.90 which is around £115 and should be available hopefully by the end of the week.

ASUS Eee Box B208 with Radeon HD 4350 and Vista

Posted by James On March - 11 - 2009

has released a new flagship model of its EEE Box PCs. The new Eee Box B208 could be an ideal HTPC as it now is fitted with a 256MB ATI Radeon HD 4350 that gives it true, hardware-accelerated HD video playback. It also provides HDMI output which is ideal to hook up to your AV Amp or TV. The OS is ether Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Business. I can only assume they have not included Home Premium is to keep the costs down?

The new B208 also comes with the new dual-core, 1.6GHz 330 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and 802.11n . Some higher-end versions will also have 250GB and 320GB hard drives, though every model should have an Eee Cinema front end for more media centre-like environment.

Asus planning to release Google Android Netbook

Posted by James On February - 23 - 2009

Google Android is by no means just for Mobile Phones. It is based on the Linux Kernel and is open to developers to write code in Java so there is plenty of functionality that can be added to it.

Also the beauty of Android is that as it is designed to work on a mobile phone it should perform extremely well on a . Ok so you are not going to have the power or software options of XP but who wants that on a anyway? They are designed to be ultra portable and allow you to access the net anywhere and this is what Android should be perfect at doing.

have officially announced their plans to release a using the Android OS and I am sure many other companies will follow suit.

say they could release an Android by the end of the year.

I would also imagine it would mean that we will see even smaller netbooks and almost certainly a few MIDs (Mobile Internet Device) running Android over the next few years.

Asus Eee Keyboard / All in one PC / M50

Posted by James On January - 8 - 2009

eeekey3jpg thumb Asus Eee Keyboard / All in one PC / M50 There doesn't always seem to be that much innovation when it comes to PCs/Laptops. It normally consists of sticking a computer in a box of varying sizes and maybe attach a screen/keyboard/battery to it.

Granted technically do the same but over the past few years they have at least been trying to put a twist on things. They basically carved a new niche in the computing world with cheap netbooks, they are trying to do the same with desktops by releasing the EeeBox and now they have announced the Assus Eee Keyboard.

At first this looks like are releasing a keyboard that is just ripping off MacBooks, but this is not the case at all, this is not just a keyboard but an entire PC built into a keyboard with a 5-inch touchscreen display.

eeekey2 thumb Asus Eee Keyboard / All in one PC / M50 Obviously the this is no gaming PC, the specification is more of a netbook with it using a 1.6GHz Intel microprocessor, 1GB of DDR2 DRAM, 16GB or 32GB SSD. It also has a bunch of connectivity including Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.0, Ultra Wideband HDMI USB 2.0 x2, VGA, HDMI, headphone and mic ports.

The interesting thing to not is the use of Ultra Wideband HDMI. This is wireless HDMI which will essentially allow you to connect to all your devices wirelessly (not including the power cord).

It would be amazing if they could up the specification enough to make it suitable for a HTPC.

According to CEO Johnny Shih the Eee Keyboard will be available in the next 3 - 6 months.

There is no word on pricing yet.

Posted by James On December - 2 - 2008

asus n10j a1 01 thumb Asus N10J Gaming Netbook Netbooks have always been perceived as low cost, basic computers for general web and email type activities. Well Asus says no to that preconception and has decided to fit its Asus N1oJ with a GeForce 9300 discrete graphics chip.

The rest of the spec includes a 10" 1,024x600 native resolution screen, Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and Windows XP. With a price of £455.

Obviously you wont be playing Crysis on this but Cnet did manage to play Unreal Tournament III.
