Sony to release even cheaper PS2

Apparently Sony will be releasing another version of the PS2, again a slimline version however this time the unit will have a built in power supply. Initial estimates on pricing are £75 which is a bargain in anyone's books.

Microsoft's HD Photo standard is now officially planned to become JPEG's successor by the Joint Photographic Experts Group, but it'll be known as JPEG XR.

According to the Wall Street Journal we won’t have to wait much longer to hear from Google about its big plans in wireless. The company looks set to make a splash in the mobile market on Monday, announcing an alliance with various handset makers and cellphone operators around the world that are willing to push its “open” platform for cellphone applications, sources say. It’s always possible the announcement’s timing could change, but Monday looks like the day at this point.

Ok so the Yanks have had it for ages, dam you Microsoft for giving the Americans all the cool things first. Anyway, Microsoft has confirmed you'll get a whole five free HD-DVDs when you splash out a mere £114.99 on an Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive. With hi-def movies clocking in at around £25, you're basically getting the drive for free. When you hand over your cash, you'll fill in a form choosing five out of thirteen films. Films include Serenity, Children of Men, Swordfish, The Prestige and  Full Metal Jacket. Having to wait 28 days is a bit annoying but I think I am sold, I already have a 360 so I am only forking out £114.99 for a HD player AND 5 films, bargain! Read the rest of this entry »

Media Centre for the Wii - Make your Wii a Media Hub

Later this year X-OOM will be releasing Media Centre for the Wii which will apparantly, once installed, let you use the Wi-Fi on the Wii to stream everything on your PC to your Wii/Tv. It should support MP3s, WMAs, MPEG4s, DivX and XviD and will cost £29.99. While I am quite interested in this product I will be holding off buying it until I see some reviews as I think it will be glitchy, though I hope it works great. Read the rest of this entry »
