Sony Bravia WE5 Cuts Energy Costs, Not Picture Quality

by James on February 17, 2009

have just announced their new range of TVs, The range. This range claims to be their greenest range ever with power consumption cut by up to 50% compared to models such as the W4500.

The TVs are Full HD 1080p in 40 or 46 inch varieties and uses the worlds first micro-tubular HCFL backlight. It also has a Smart Presence Sensor which will switch the TV off when it is not being watched, and will switch the TV on again when the viewer re-enters the room. It also has an energy saving switch which reduces the power consumption to zero.

The LCD panel is complemented by Sony’s new BRAVIA Engine 3 that cleans, filters and optimises image data to reduce picture noise while boosting contrast and colour range. Motionflow 100Hz technology with Image Blur Reduction doubles the displayed frame rate for smoother, sharper sports and fast-moving action scenes.
