Onkyo iOS compatible headphones with high-res audio app
Onkyo has just launched the £200 ES-CTI300 on-ear and £150 IE-CTI300 in-ear headphones which come with inline controls and a mic for use with Apple iOS devices.
Onkyo has also launched the iOS HF Player EQ to go along side the headphones which is a music player app that unlocks the ability to listen to music at up to 24bit/192kHz resolution.
This upgrade offers users the ability to play music files in FLAC, DSD, WAV and AIFF formats, though DSD-IFF and DSF formats are converted to PCM before playback.
This feature is only compatible with iPhone 4S or later, iPod Touch 5th gen or later, iPad 2 or later and iPad Mini, and will require iOS 6 or later.
The on-ears have a silver finish and leather-effect earpads, and are fitted with two 4cm titanium drivers backed by high-capacity bass chambers encased in lightweight aluminium earcups.
As for the in-ears, they use a 14.3mm driver and aluminium/ABS hybrid enclosures. Both models will be on sale in December.
We had chance to play with the in-ear headphones at the IFA this year, while we used it with our Android device and therefore not high res audio we found them to be excellent and well built earphones.
