Dell Venue Pro : FINALLY HERE!!

Computer giants Dell are usually pretty punctual with its releases and their products are guaranteed to be of a pretty high standard. Obviously now not just in the computer business but with a catalogue of smartphones to its name Dell was supposed to release the Venue Pro, its first foray into a Windows Mobile 7 operated mobile, some months ago but due to some “Firmware issues” it has since been put back twice but is now available. Not only was it Dell’s first Windows phone but it was scheduled to be the first windows phone to have a slide out QWERTY keyboard but due to the delays has now been beaten by the HTC Pro 7.   So what’s inside Qualcomm 8250 SnapDragon 1GHz processor 5MP Camera with LED Flash 512MB RAM 16GB internal storage WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, AGPS 4.1” 800×480 AMOLED screen Available now direct from Dell at £459 SIM Free, I wonder if those who waited for this phone to show still waited or maybe had their heads turned by the...

Samsung Galaxy S II

With the meteoric rise of the smartphone, especially the iPhone and the BlackBerry it took a special phone from their competitors to match them. Samsung and Android did just that with the Galaxy S. A super fast, super bright smartphone  that did pretty much everything an iPhone can do and more yet still keep a lower price and certainly better longevity before Samsung decide to take it to the next level. Well now we have it’s sequel on its way, the Galaxy S II.   So what’s it got? 1GHz Dual-Core processor 4.3” Super AMOLED screen 8MP Rear Facing Camera Full 1080pHD recording 2MP Front Facing Camera Super sleek design (8.49mm thick and weighs just 116g) 16GB or 32GB models HDMI out 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, AGPS DLNA So the specs look pretty decent and we all know that Samsung have got better and better at their smartphones and Android is now the most popular OS so when can we get the next generation of Galaxy phone? There’s several conflicting sources about on the internet at the moment. Expansys had just a price of £649.99 where as online retailer Clove had it down at £612 with a March release. Then Play.com came along and is allowing people to pre-order it at £599.99 with a May 6th shipping date. Who’s right?? Personally I’d go with play.com but certainly if you’re...

Nokia and Windows 7 get friendly.

Nokia, the top dog in mobile phones for so long, finally seeing it’s majority hold on the market slumping with the successes of Apple, BlackBerry and Android mobiles. Many have put this down to the fact it stuck with it’s Symbian mobile platform which didn’t improve as greatly as the other 3 companies operating systems. It took Intel on board to create the MeeGo operating system which hasn’t really surfaced despite being talked about some time ago. All this finally came into perspective a few days ago when figures showed how much Nokia’s market share had slumped. Still up there with the big boys in terms of numbers but the others about to overtake a senior exec within them sent a damning memo which got out around the internet saying Nokia staff were “standing on a burning platform,” and were falling away from it’s rivals   So what can Nokia do to sort it out. As said MeeGo was supposed to be the start. An OS for Nokias new smartphones and even Tablet PCs but we haven’t seen anything of it. Nokia have said they still plan to release a MeeGo smartphone by the end of this year but mainly aiming it at a certain market as Nokia have said that MeeGo will only be “an open source mobile operating system project. So swallow some pride Nokia, what about...
